Based on these, the organizers held meetings and voted on 30 events.

From these results, the organizing committee selected 15 events, reporting them to the Ministry's leadership to launch the voting for the top ten cultural, sports, and tourism events in 2023. This involved the participation of journalists from central and local press agencies.

The 15 selected events for consideration of the top ten cultural, sports, and tourism events of 2023 are:

1. The 80th anniversary of the introduction of the Outline on Vietnam's Culture

2. The first-ever event honoring 78 exemplary figures in cultural sector nationwide in 2023 and the National Cultural Officials Conference

3. UNESCO's recognition of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago (in Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city) as a World Natural Heritage

4. Vietnam elected as a member of the World Heritage Committee for the 2023-2027 term

5. The "Emperor's Golden Seal" returns home

6. Significant achievements in the cultural industry: Hoi An (Quang Nam province) and Da Lat (Lam Dong province) recognized as UNESCO Creative Cities

7. The first cultural festival for ethnic groups with populations under 10,000 in Lai Chau province in 2023

8. The Law on Domestic Violence and Control effective from July 1, 2023, along with Decree 76/2023/ND-CP detailing certain aspects of this law issued on November 1, 2023, and effective from December 25, 2023

9. Vietnam topped the overall medal tally of the Southeast Asia Games for the first time at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games held in Cambodia in May, 2023

The voting for the top ten cultural, sports, and tourism events is conducted in two forms: Direct voting on December 5 at the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism headquarters with the participation of journalists from central and local press agencies; online voting organized via the Ministry's website at http://sukienvhttdl.bvhttdl.gov.vn/, the Culture Newspaper Online at www.baovanhoa.vn, and the To quoc (Fatherland) Online Newspaper at www.toquoc.vn. The online voting period is from 8:30 a.m. on December 5 to 5:00 p.m. on December 7, 2023.

The list of the top ten cultural, sports, and tourism events of 2023 will be announced by the organizing board after compiling the voting results from these two methods.
