Than Nong tower in Bac Ninh province sets world record
PANO - The World Records Union, the Vietnam Records Association Central Committee, and the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) held a ceremony on October 13 evening to hand over the certificate recognizing Than Nong tower in Bac Ninh province as the world's largest rice grain-shaped structure made from stone mortars to Dong Do Technical and Commercial Co., Ltd.

Located at Dong Do Vocational Training and Driving Test Center in Lam Thao commune, Luong Tai district, Than Nong tower, the symbol of the deity of wet rice civilization, is 15m high with five storeys. It is made of 1,012 stone mortars arranged around the outside, while the inside is a solidly poured concrete pillar frame. It is designed in the shape of a vertical giant rice grain.
On the top of the tower stands a constellation of the deity of the wet rice civilization with 15 stars made of LED lights that glow in different colors at night. This is a unique tourist attraction in Bac Ninh province.
Addressing the event held in Lam Thao commune, Dr. Thang Van Phuc, President of the Vietnam Records Association Central Committee, highly praised the company and record holder Tran Van Toan, Chairman of the Board of members of the company, for building the tower, a high-level value of creativity in agricultural culture and hoped that the company would continue to spread the tower’s value.
In his speech, Tran Van Toan said that the work is aimed at spreading the traditional culture of the nation and contributing to preserving the culture of rural areas, agricultural culture and the memory of older generations in the North.
This tourist attraction is expected to bring new experiences to visitors, helping to promote the province’s sustainable tourism and socio-economic development as well as the North’s cultural quintessence and wet rice culture.
