According to Vice President and General Secretary of HUFO Ho Xuan Lam, the screening of “Red Rain” for the diplomatic corps and students from Laos and Cambodia was aimed at helping international friends gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam, its people, its resilient and courageous spirit, and its aspiration for peace during the protracted struggle for national independence and reunification. Through this cultural and cinematic exchange, HUFO hopes to further strengthen solidarity and friendship between the people of Ho Chi Minh City and the international community living, working, and studying in the city.

“Red Rain” is a feature film on the theme of revolutionary warfare, inspired by and dramatizing the 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting by troops and people during the battle to protect Quang Tri Ancient Citadel in 1972. The film honors, pays tribute to, and commemorates the Vietnamese who devoted their youth to the nation for independence and reunification, while also expressing the Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace and national reconciliation.

After the screening, the audience had an opportunity to interact with the filmmakers of “Red Rain.”

Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ariadne Feo Labrada remarked that the film deeply moved viewers with its portrayal of revolutionary heroism and the fierce yet heroic sacrifices of the Vietnamese troops and people. She noted that the film helped audiences, especially younger generations, appreciate the value of history and the significance of peace.

Adiguna Wijaya, Acting Consul General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed gratitude to the director, cast, and production team for creating such an impressive cinematic work about a pivotal period in Vietnam’s history.

Representatives from the Consulates General of Russia, China, Belarus, and India in Ho Chi Minh City also extended warm congratulations to the “Red Rain” team, praising the film’s artistic value and the profound humanistic message it conveys to audiences. They emphasized that while the film depicts war, it powerfully highlights themes of love, peace, reconciliation, and national unity, offering a reminder to today’s generation about the value of peace and the importance of cooperation among people and nations in pursuit of global peace and prosperity.
