PANO - Nearly 140 films have registered to compete for the 2014 Golden Kite Awards (Canh Dieu Vang) in the framework of the 2015 Vietnam Movie Day's activities, announced by the Vietnam Cinematography Association recently.

All entries will compete in the seven categories of film, TV series, scientific films, animation, documentary, cinematic commentary, and short film.

The award ceremony will be held on March 12th at the Queen Hall Meeting Center in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the awards, the program aims to honour two people's artists, namely Ngo Manh Lan and The Anh, for their great contributions to the national cinema's development.

Prior to the ceremony, participating films will be screened free at the city's BHD Cineplex Cinemas, CGV Cinemas and Tan Son Nhat Cultural House from March 5th to 8th.
