PANO - The fourth Hanoi International Film Festival opened on November 1 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 146 films from 43 nations and territories will be screened during the event.

The festival honors outstanding cinematographic works with high artistic values, a high sense of humanity, and creativity. It encourages new cinematographic talents and promotes friendship and cooperation among film-makers, delegates for the development of cinematography, as well as introduces the world’s excellent films to film-goers.

During the festival, typical film programs, including a panorama of the world’s cinematography, Indian cinematography insight, Italian films, series of ASEAN films, and contemporary Vietnamese films, will take place.

Vietnam joins the festival with 12 films of different genres including feature, short, documentary and cartoon. 17 Vietnamese films will be screened in the programs of the world’s cinematography, contemporary Vietnamese films and ASEAN films.

The festival’s jury members are international and domestic artists, stars and experienced cinematographers.

Competing films will be projected at least twice at the National Cinema Center, theaters named Kim Dong, Thang Tam (August), Ngoc Khanh and CGV Vincom 54A Nguyen Chi Thanh.

The closing and awarding ceremonies will be held on November 5 and broadcast live on the Vietnam Television’s Channel 1 (VTV1).
