French delegation experience culture of Thai ethnic group in Yen Bai
A working delegation led by Marie-Christine Segui, Vice President in charge of International Cooperation of the Val-de-Marne Department Council of France, on April 17 visited homestay tourism households and artisans who are restoring and preserving the traditional culture of the Thai ethnic group in Nghia Lo township in the Northern province of Yen Bai.
The activity was part of a cooperation program between Yen Bai province and Val-de-Marne.
The delegation witnessed firsthand how the homestay owners support tourists to experience the cultural and spiritual life of the Thai people.

They also learned about creative approaches to community-based tourism development, such as renovating houses in the cultural style of the Thai ethnic group, and building souvenir stalls decorated with traditional Thai dresses and clothing.
Visiting an ancient Thai script class of artisan Lo Tuyen Dung in Nghia Lo township, they were introduced to ancient Thai and newly printed books used as teaching materials for students and people in the locality; the writing and reading of the ancient Thai script and exploring the folk culture of the Thai people through proverbs and folk music.
At the event, Segui suggested Nghia Lo township continue encouraging households to join in community-based tourism to introduce tourists to the natural beauty, people, and traditional culture of ethnic groups in Nghia Lo.
Earlier, the delegation offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at a memorial dedicated to the late leader in Nghia Lo township and visited the provincial museum in Yen Bai city.
