Best Vietnamese films in 2016 named
PANO – A feature film, “Saigon – I love you”, by Director Le Minh Thang of the One-member Limited Liability Company Livi On, won the Golden Kite Award in 2016. The awarding ceremony was held by the Vietnam Cinema Association and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on April 9 in the city.
The 98-minute film tells romantic stories of 10 people from different localities and backgrounds. They all choose Ho Chi Minh City to live and work and fall in love with the city, its dwellers and culture.
The organizing board presents the best feature film award to “Saigon – I love you” film.
The Silver Kite award went to “Zodiac 12: Five Steps of Love” by Director Vu Ngoc Phuong and “Tam Cam- Untold stories” by Director Ngo Thanh Van. The Golden Kite award for the animation category went to “Cau Be Ma-No-Canh” (Mannequin Boy), while the award for television film was granted to “Zippo, Mustard and You” by Directors Trong Trinh and Bui Tien Huy. Director Phung Ngoc Tu’s “Solutions to preventing Coastal Erosion” bagged the Golden Kite Award for documentary.
The organizers also presented prizes to 25 best actors, actresses, directors, designers, screenwriters, and cameramen.
This year’s event received 19 feature films, 20 TV series, 13 cartoons, 39 documentaries, 11 scientific films, 16 short films, and five cinematography reviews.
