A set of stamps on Prof. Tran Van Giau issued
The Ministry of Information and Communication issued a special set of stamps to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late Professor Tran Van Giau on September 6th in Long An Province.

The Ministry of Information and Communication issued a special set of stamps to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late Professor Tran Van Giau on September 6th in Long An Province.
This set of stamps, designed by two painters Do Lenh Tuan and Nguyen Du, depicts the portrait of the People’s Teacher and Labour Hero Tran Van Giau. The stamps represent him as a truly resilient revolutionary soldier and a profound intellectual.
The stamp’s background is a flying national flag and Southern Regional Party Committee Historical Relic Site-Southern Resistance War Administrative Committee in Nhon Hoa Lap Commune, Tan Thanh District, Long An Province. The Ho Chi Minh Order is on the top right of the stamp.
The issuing of this set of stamps is to acknowledge great contributions of Professor Giau in the cause of national revolution and education.
On the afternoon of the same day, a get-together between the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences and the Viet Stamp Club was held at the South-eastern Armed Force Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the stamp release.
General Vo Nguyen Giap, a close friend of Prof. Giau sent congratulatory flowers to the event.
According to Long An Provincial People’s Committee, Prof. Tran Van Giau’s family will present over 3,000 book titles of different types to the Provincial Library on September 10th.
Prof. Tran Van Giau wrote more than 6,000 pages on Vietnamese history and culture. He held several posts in the State and received some noble awards, such as Ho Chi Minh Award, People’s Teacher title, Labour Hero in Renewal Period and the Ho Chi Minh Order.
