Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tam highlighted that the success of Viet Phuong Group in particular, and Vietnamese companies investing in Laos more broadly, is due to the significant support from the Lao Party, National Assembly, Government, and local authorities.

Their assistance in creating favorable policies, coordinating efforts, and resolving challenges for businesses has been essential, he said, noting that thanks to this support, Viet Phuong Group has continued to strive and contribute increasingly to the socio-economic development of Sekong province and Laos, particularly in addressing social welfare issues for the local population, especially amid Laos' ongoing economic challenges.

On receiving the project, Leklay Sivilay expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Party Organization, administration and people of Sekong to the Viet Phuong Group and all involved parties for their efforts in completing the Dakcheung Sports Complex.

The facility was officially handed over to the Sekong Department of Education and Sports, as well as the Dakcheung district authorities, to manage, operate, and ensure its long-term, effective use. The complex aims to become a hub for sports and cultural activities, benefiting local residents and improving their physical and mental well-being.

The Dakcheung Sports Complex, which began construction in April 2024 and was completed in December 2024, includes a range of facilities such as a 7,000- sq.m artificial turf football field with one 11-player pitch and three 7-player fields, a 1,150-sq.m indoor sports hall with two pétanque courts, two badminton courts, one sepaktakraw court, and two table tennis tables. Additionally, there are office spaces, storage facilities, and internal road networks.

The Viet Phuong Group is one of Vietnam's major economic conglomerates, which has been investing and operating in Laos since 2008. The group has implemented several successful investment projects in various sectors, including construction, timber processing, bauxite mining and processing, energy, agriculture, forestry, and logistics.
