Speaking at the event, Hue said during the past tenure, the two legislatures held eight thematic seminars, four of them were co-chaired by the top legislators. This event would focus discussions on experience in holding question & answer (Q&A) sessions at the N.A.’s meetings and decide on national projects significant to socio-economic development, he said.

Asked about Q&A activities in the N.A.’s sessions, Hue said in the mid-year meetings, the PM often assigns the permanent Deputy PM to present reports and answer questions. While in the year-end meetings, the PM will take the floor. The Vietnamese N.A. usually spends two and a half days on questioning government members.

After collecting opinions from N.A. delegations, agencies, voters and the public, the N.A. Secretary General will hold meetings with leaders of N.A. organs to discuss and choose topics for Q&A sessions, which will be submitted to the N.A. Standing Committee for consideration. Later, the N.A. Secretary General will consult with lawmakers to choose four topics under the management of four ministers. Heads of sectors will be responsible for answering at sessions, he said.

The top Lao legislator wished that both sides would continue working closely together to share expertise in the near future.

Hue affirmed that the Vietnamese N.A. is ready to share experience with the Lao counterpart to better perform tasks assigned by the people.
