He said he is glad that the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been growing efficiently across the board, contributing hugely to each country’s nation-building and defense cause as well as to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

The two sides should be proactively implementing productively reached agreements, coordinate in soundly organizing activities of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017, and disseminate widely the bilateral special friendship among their young people, and friends worldwide, he noted.

Phankham Viphavanh was delighted that the growing Laos-Vietnam ties have brought tangible benefits for the two countries’ people, and thanked Vietnam for its immense and productive help to Lao people.

He asserted that Laos will work together with Vietnam to foster, preserve, and promote the special Laos-Vietnam relations to pass it on younger generations, and implement reached agreements efficiently.

* President Tran Dai Quang welcomed a visit by Lao Vice President Phankham Viphavanh to join activities celebrating the Year of Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship during a reception in Hanoi on July 18.

Quang expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao people would continue successfully implementing Resolution adopted by the 10th National Party Congress and the eighth five-year socio-economic development plan.

He said he is delighted at the success of the meeting between the two Politburos, the 39th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee and the recent visits by the two countries’ leaders.

The President informed his guest that the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat held a conference in May to instruct ministries, agencies and localities to implement the Vietnam-Laos high-level Agreement with an aim of making the bilateral ties work in the people’s interest.

The host asked the two countries to continue working closely together to hold activities celebrating the Year of Solidarity and Friendship between now and the year-end, contributing to educating the two people on the bilateral special relations.

Viphavanh, in reply, underscored the significance of educating young generations on the tradition of solidarity and special bond between the two Parties, States and peoples.

He also took the occasion to express his honor to confer his country’s most noble distinctions to Vietnamese Party and State leaders in recognition of their contributions to fostering solidarity, friendship, and close-knit attachment between the two nations.

* National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Laos’s Vice President Phankham Viphavanh have agreed that cooperation via Party, State, ministry, sector, locality and people channels between Vietnam and Laos has reaped efficient benefits.

They shared the view while meeting in Hanoi on July 18 on the occasion of the Lao Vice President’s visit to Vietnam to attend the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the ceremony marking 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Chairwoman Ngan spoke of the success of a series of activities saluting the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year in Vietnam’s Son La province in July, including the cultural, sports and tourism festival of the two countries’ border areas.

She thanked Laos for presenting its National Golden Medal to senior Vietnamese leaders on this occasion, saying the noble award has great significance, demonstrating vividly the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Viphavanh said activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017 are plentiful and significant, with solemn ceremonies held in Hanoi for the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
