The ceremony also saw the presence of Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang, staff of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam, and Lao students working and studying in Vietnam. 

Speaking at the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang said that this year’s ceremony to mark Lao traditional New Year festival Bunpimay was the first of its kind to be organized after more than three-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was also the first event that he participated as the role of the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam. 

Briefing on outcomes obtained by the Vietnamese and Lao people in 2022, the Lao diplomat emphasized that those achievements came from the cooperation, exchange, experience sharing, and support of the two parties, two governments, and two peoples and contributed to consolidating the special, faithful, impartial, and unique solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

On behalf of Vietnamese party, state leaders and people, National Assembly Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man extended best wishes to Lao party and state leaders and people. He expressed strong belief that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Laos will continue to obtain greater new achievements in national construction, development, and defense; successfully carry out the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 9th five-year socio-economic development plan to build a more prosperous Laos with growing role and stature in the international arena.

Joining the Lao Embassy-hosted event for the first time, Savyvanh Nada, a Lao student from the University of Banking, said that he felt the cozy atmosphere as if he was in his homeland. The event enabled him to celebrate the traditional New Year festival of the Lao people with the Vietnamese people.
