Over 400 students from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have converged at a series of student exchanges organised in Ho Chi Minh City from April 15 to 17 to celebrate Laos’s Bun Pi May and Cambodia’s Chol Chnam Thmey New Year Festivals.

The three countries’ students have a chance to participate in a number of sport competitions, cultural exchanges and traditional art performances, hosted by the municipal chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU).

According to Nguyen Manh Cuong, Secretary of the HCMCYU’s municipal chapter, such exchange programmes create opportunities for students to promote understanding and solidarity among the three peoples.

On April 15, Thai and Lao students attending central Nghe An province’s Vinh University gathered to enjoy their respective traditional New Year festivals.

This is the 13th year the university has organised an event for Thai and Lao students, designed to help them have warm and happy New Year celebrations and contribute to tightening the friendship among Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.

At the event, Vietnamese students joined Lao and Thai friends in ritual activities to wish them good luck and prosperity for the New Year.

More than 400 Thai and Lao students are currently studying at Vinh University.
