The ceremony included religious activities spanning the three faiths of Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, a message from the Prime Minister and a presentation of flowers in front of a wall devoted to the deceased, including Khun Poom Jensen, a child of Princess Ubolratana.
Similar proceedings took place at the Tsunami Memorial Wall in Phuket province, where participants observed a minute of silence for those lost in the catastrophe across 45 countries. The wall contains the remains of those still unidentified after losing their lives due to the tsunami and symbolizes remembrance of all who died in the disaster.
