Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 20:16 (GMT+7)
PANO – The U22 Vietnam football team is placed in the Group G with national teams from Republic of Korea (RoK), Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan (China) and the Philippines at the U22 Asian Cup 2013 qualifying round after the draw ceremony at the headquarters of the Asia Football Federation Confederation (AFC) on February 14th.
Though the U19 Vietnam team won the U19 RoK at a score of 1-0 at the U19 Asian Cup 2010 qualifiers, the U22 RoK is seemed a strong rival for the Vietnam.
In the Group G, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines have their own chances to advance the next round, while Thailand will play with tough teams from North Korea and China in Group F, and Indonesia and Singapore have to meet Australia and Japan in Group E.
The teams at the qualifiers will compete together in the round robin format between June 23rd and July 3rd to select the best two teams in each group and the best third place (total 15 slots) to enter the final rounds. The 16th ticket would be offered to the host country.
