Earlier, on October 12, while operating 72 nautical miles off Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province, the trawler got an engine problem and went adrift at a speed of 1.2 nautical miles per hour and was about to sink in the following morning.

Upon being informed of the case, the National Committee for Response to Incidents and Natural Disasters and Search and Rescue and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command sent Coast Guard Ship 4038 to rescue.

Departing from Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai province, the ship approached the distressed trawler at 03:45pm on October 13 and towed it to a port of Border Guard Flotilla 48.

The Binh Dinh Provincial Border Guard Command directed the Border Post of the Quy Nhon Port Border Gate to complete all procedures to receive the fishermen and repair the trawler.
