Naval sappers on training grounds
PANO - Practices to improve combat techno-tactical skills are a daily task of every naval sapper under Commando Battalion 2012 of the Staff Department of Military Region 9.
The battalion was founded on December 20, 1964 in Bien Bach commune, Thoi Binh district, in the Southernmost province of Ca Mau. With its outstanding feats-of-arms in the resistance war against American invaders for national salvation and in doing international service in the neighboring country of Cambodia, the unit’s two groups and six individuals were honored with the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.”
On the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Commando Corps (March 19, 1967), PANO would like to introduce some images of the hard training of those naval sappers.
20-minute warm up before training
Packing belongings before crossing a river
Approaching the target on river
Practicing hiding themselves under water
Naval sappers practicing being under water in silence within 2 to 4 hours
For naval sappers of Commando Battalion 2012, their training grounds are often the wide Hau River or tributary rivers.
