MND leader receives foreign guests
PANO - Deputy Minister of National Defense, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted a reception for Mr. Tim Huxley, Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) - Asia on March 15 at the Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s headquarters.

At the reception, the guest presented an invitation to the Minister of National Defense of Vietnam to participate in and deliver a speech at the 2017 Shangri-La Dialogue on new challenges in conflict management in the Asia-Pacific Region.
On behalf of Minister of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich, the host thanked the IISS and the Government of Singapore for the invitation and stressed that Vietnam will attend and contribute positively to this year’s dialogue and believed that the dialogue from June 2-4 this year will be successful.

* The same day, receiving New Zealand’s Ambassador Wendy Matthews, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh recalled the fruitful results of defense cooperation between the two countries over the past time and hoped that the ties would be boosted in high-level delegation exchanges, sharing experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations, and strategic studies.
Gen. Vinh hoped that the second Vietnam - New Zealand Defense Dialogue would be held soon.
For her part, Ambassador Wendy Matthews laid stress on key defense cooperation areas with Vietnam, especially in improving competence of Vietnam’s peacekeeping forces. She believed the bilateral defense ties would develop stronger in the time to come.
