General Luong Cuong receives Indian Ambassador
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on April 7 received Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Parvathaneni Harish.
At the meeting, General Cuong highlighted important developments in bilateral relations and cooperation between Vietnam and India over the past years, particularly in defense cooperation. The signing of the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-India defense cooperation in the 2015-20 period has presented mutual trust and mapped out the development orientation for the key period of the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership, he said.

General Cuong hoped that Mr. Harish in his capacity as the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam will pay more attention and effectively boost the implementation of agreements inked by leaders of the two countries and the two defense ministries, so as to deepen the bilateral relations and strengthen defense cooperation, meeting the aspirations of the two nations, for peace and stability in the region and world.
Sharing the same view with General Cuong on the positive developments in bilateral relations between India and Vietnam, the Indian Ambassador affirmed that he will spare no efforts to bolster bilateral defense cooperation in a practical and effective manner.
He revealed that the Symphony Orchestra of the Indian Army will visit and perform a special music program in the end of April, which is an activity in celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations and of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the India-Vietnam strategic partnership.
