Deputy Defense Minister receives Australian defense attachés
PANO - Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh received Colonel Darren Kerr and Colonel Nerolie McDonald, outgoing and new Australian defense attachés to Vietnam, respectively on March 14 in Hanoi.

Gen. Vinh highly valued new developments in defense cooperation between Vietnam and Australia over the past years, especially during Colonel Darren Kerr’s three-year term of office as well as Australian support for Vietnam in the fields of expertise and English language training for Vietnamese servicemen at Unit 871 and in Australia; maritime security; counter-terrorism; assistance in UNPKO preparations and war consequence relief.
Gen. Vinh emphasized that Australia is one of the countries that the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam has maintained scores of dialogue mechanisms at different levels.
Talking with new defense attaché of Australia to Vietnam, Colonel Nerolie McDonald, Gen. Vinh believed that at his post, the Australian officer would continue to boost the bilateral defense ties with a focus on achieved fields and other cooperation potentials such as cyber security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, contributing to enhancing Vietnam-Australia relations.
